Ultimate Disney Song Bracket - Pre-1960 Region Second Round

With the first round in the books and 32 songs eliminated, the pre-1960 region remains the most diverse in terms of movie representation. The 8 songs left in this region come from 6 different movies, with only "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" repeating. That movie, the first ever from Walt Disney Animation Studios, accounts for 3 of the 8 songs left, and could theoretically end up with 3 of the final four in the region. I don't see that happening, but I'll leave that up to the voters.

Let the second round begin...

Pre-1960 Region

"Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" (from "Song of the South")

vs.

"You Can Fly" (from "Peter Pan")

"Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" has proven to be formidable, winning its play-in matchup in a complete sweep (100% of the vote), then ousting "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" in an upset, 64-36. If I had to project this round, I'd guess "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" would end up with around 80% of the vote, even though "You Can Fly" was more dominant (against a lesser opponent) in the previous round.

"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" (from "Cinderella")

vs.

"Heigh-Ho" (from "Snow White")

"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" is the last song standing from "Cinderella", and the 1950 Academy Award nominee for Best Song faces a difficult task in keeping the hopes of that movie alive. "Heigh-Ho" is probably the most recognizable song from "Snow White", thanks in large part to one of the catchiest choruses in all of Disney song lore.

"Once Upon a Dream" (from "Sleeping Beauty")

vs.

"Whistle While You Work" (from "Snow White")

If I'm being entirely honest with myself, the songs from "Snow White" are probably going to win this matchup and the preceding one (but not the next one). I love "Once Upon a Dream", but it doesn't quite have the universal appeal of "Whistle While You Work."

"Some Day My Prince Will Come" (from "Snow White")

vs.

"When You Wish Upon a Star" (from "Pinocchio")

Honestly, when I was setting this bracket, I think I underestimated just how powerful "When You Wish Upon a Star" could be. I didn't really consider it the odds-on favorite to advance from this region, which is kind of crazy, given how ubiquitous the song is across all Disney properties. There are a couple songs remaining in this region that I could see knocking it off, but I don't think "Some Day My Prince Will Come" is one of them.
