Jersey Monday: Chris Cooley

We're fast approaching the start of the NFL regular season, so let's take a look at one of the few current Redskins jerseys I have, tight end Chris Cooley.

I picked this one up a couple years ago, and while it's a knockoff, it's still pretty high quality (and it only cost me $20, so I'm not complaining). It's also one of the only white Redskins jerseys I have, and the only one that's technically an authentic -- my other white ones are replicas, and low-quality ones at that.

I got this jersey after the '07 season, back when Cooley was coming off the best year of his career. He's dealt with injuries and inconsistent quarterback play for the last couple years, but did have a career-high-tying 849 receiving yards last season, and could be a key for Washington's offense again this year.

To be entirely honest, I don't have high hopes for the 'Skins in 2011. I'm not sold on the John Beck experiment, and there are plenty of holes on both sides of the ball. I would never advocate tanking a season, but if Washington went 2-14 this year, putting the 'Skins in a position to draft Andrew Luck, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially since I see their BEST case being 8-8.

Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.
