2011 Desktop Girl Tournament - Sweet 16

The 2011 Hottest Desktop Girl of the Week Tournament has moved into the Sweet 16, with eight second-round matchups to vote on. But before we get to that, let's check out last week's winners, who'll be moving on to the Sweet 16.

Carol Danvers Region
- Summer Glau (72.3%) def. Izabella Miko
- Laura Vandervoort (86.2%) def. Tricia Helfer
- Katrina Bowden (58.5%) def. Andrea Anders
- Lyndsy Fonseca (50.8%) def. Michelle Monaghan

Jessica Drew Region
- Brooklyn Decker (53.8%) def. Kate Middleton
- Heather Morris (63.1%) def. Naya Rivera
- Hayley Williams (63.1%) def. Rihanna
- Sarah Michelle Gellar (80.0%) def. Clare Kramer

I'd expected Gellar-Kramer to be a blowout, but I didn't anticipate Laura Vandervoort posting the biggest margin of victory in this tournament so far. However, unlike the 2010 tournament, there were no first-round sweeps, or even anyone topping 90% of the vote. Then there's the Lyndsy Fonseca-Michelle Monaghan match-up, which was decided by a single vote, in what was the most voted-on round in the history of this tournament. So, congrats Lyndsy. Remember, it's not about the margin of victory. It's just survive and advance. Now, for this week's eight matchups, which will decide who moves on to the quarterfinals:

Janet Pym Region

Sofia Vergara
vs.

Aly Michalka

Rachel McAdams
vs.

Olivia Wilde
Natasha Romanoff Region

Autumn Reeser
vs.

Emma Stone
Keri Russell
vs.

Emily Blunt

Those are the full second-round matchups this week. Next week the Elite 8 (quarterfinals) will run for a week, then the Final Four. Assuming no disasters in scheduled voting, the championship match should be set on August 31, and voting on that will run through September 10. Then on Wednesday, September 14, I'll unveil the 2011 DGOW Tournament champion.
