In Review: 2010's Best

Normally each month I look back at the top five posts from the previous month, but I thought I'd do something different for the first day of 2011 and take a look back at the most popular posts on in 2010. Now, this isn't 100% accurate, since I didn't install Google Analytics on my site until February, but I think it's pretty close. I was just going to do the top 10 posts overall, but then I discovered that six of them were "Buffy" comic reviews. So instead, I'll spotlight 10 popular posts each representing a different entity, to give this list some diversity.

1. Review: Buffy Season 8 #36 - "Last Gleaming, Part 1
This was not just the most popular of the Buffy comic posts, but the most visited post on the site overall in 2010. It obviously had the advantage of being up longer than any of the other reviews from the "Last Gleaming" arc, and came after a four month gap in the Buffy comics.

2. My Top 10 Favorite Things About "Glee" Season One
I didn't watch "Glee" week by week in Season 1, so this post from August served as my all-encompassing Season 1 review, and it continues to get traffic with each "Glee" episode that airs.

3. Desktop Girl of the Week: Deborah Ann Woll
Woll, who plays Jessica on "True Blood", was my most-popular Desktop Girl of the Week selection in terms of traffic, just edging out Christina Hendricks.

4. Modern Family "The Old Wagon" Reaction
Gee, I wonder why this post (14th overall in 2010) keeps getting visits? Hmm...

Oh, right.

5. Charmed Comic Review, Issue #1
This review of the first issue of the ongoing "Charmed" series didn't follow the format that I've settled into for the subsequent reviews, but was still popular enough to reach #17 overall for 2010.

6. Buffyfest at New England Comic Con 2010
In 2010, this blog continued a shift in tone. If you look back at the posts from 2003, 2004 and even up through about the middle of 2007, the blog is mostly about me. This year, it became primarily a forum for me to share my opinions about things I've watched and read, but I still like to post about things I experience, and the "Buffyfest" at New England Comic Con (#18 overall) was probably my best experience of 2010. My worst: "The Decision" (#145 overall).

7. Amazing Spider-Man #639 Review: One Moment in Time, Part 2
Even though I'm thoroughly enjoying "Big Time", I still hated "One More Day" and thought "One Moment in Time" was unnecessary. This review of the second issue of that latter arc came in at #20 overall in 2010.

8. My Top 10 Biggie Songs
The greatest rapper of all-time died on March 9... 1997, and 13 years later I picked my 10 favorite of his songs. My #22 overall post on 2010 gets most of its traffic from Google searches.

9. Is January Jones Miscast as Emma Frost?
To summarize this post (#25 overall), yes. Yes she is.

10. Futurama "The Late Philip J. Fry" Recap/Review
I wanted to give some love to my most popular "Futurama" review (#30 overall) because reviewing "Futurama" on a weekly basis is what got me in the mood to do more individual TV episode reviews in the fall 2010 season, and that's what led in large part to hitting the 600-post mark in 2010. I truly doubt I'll post that often in 2011.

Oh, and for those that care, the top posts in December were as follows:
1. Review: Buffy Season 8 #39 - "Last Gleaming, Part 4"
2. Charmed Comic Review, Issue #4
3. The 11 Best Giles Episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
4. Katy Perry Makes "The Simpsons" Worth Watching (Briefly)
5. American Dad's Fantasy Basketball Reference

Emma Stone was the top Desktop Girl of the Week, and my review of "Tron" was the top non-Buffy, non-comic, non-TV post.
