Sure, it wasn't the most beautiful game ever played, but last night, the Redskins beat the Cowboys, which means my wearing of my authentic Santana Moss jersey for most of the day yesterday didn't go to waste (also, since last week's "Jersey Monday" subject -- Michael Vick -- had a huge game, maybe I'll bring Moss some luck by making him the Jersey Monday selection this week).
Moss actually had six receptions for 77 yards last night, but it didn't feel like he did that well (mostly because the Redskins offense felt inept for the entire game). That's kind of how his entire Redskins career has gone -- you feel disappointed watching him, then you check the numbers at the end of the season and it turns out he wasn't really that bad. He's had at least 55 receptions every year he's been in Washington, and twice topped the 1,000 yard mark. The problem is Moss is really a #3 wide receiver, moonlighting as the team's #1 (well, #2 if you want to count tight end Chris Cooley).
As for this jersey, I don't wear it often because of that feeling of disappointment in Moss's numbers but also because I prefer the Redskins white jerseys to their burgundy ones. I will say, however, that this one does look pretty good in that picture.
Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.
