30 Years of Adam: 2002

Adam Reisinger, the creator of AdamReisinger.com, turns 30 on May 17, 2010. As part of the countdown to his 30th birthday, AdamReisinger.com looks back on May 17th each year since 1980.

May 17, 2002 -- my 22nd birthday and my last birthday in college. Once again, I celebrated by taking a final exam, but I also celebrated by buying a domain name... this domain name. Yep, my 22nd birthday is also the birthday of AdamReisinger.com. It was also the day the White House began an aggressive campaign against Congressional Democrats over who knew what leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks and when they knew it. 8 years later, we still haven't captured Osama Bin Laden. Awesome.

There were no NBA playoff games on the 17th, which was fine, since, again, I had that final exam thing to worry about (oh, and the unemployment thing, since I still hadn't found a full-time post-college job, which was kind of the point of buying AdamReisinger.com -- originally it just hosted my digital résumé).

In baseball, it was a good day in New York. The Mets destroyed the Padres 13-4, opening up a one-game lead on the Marlins in the NL East. Meanwhile Jason Giambi became a TRUE YANKEE™, hitting a walk-off grand slam in the pouring rain in the bottom of the 14th inning to give New York a 13-12 win over the Twins. Sure, Giambi was a roiding douche, but that was a pretty sick highlight.
