So, with that in mind, it's easy to understand how prior to last summer, the only Cavaliers jerseys I owned were that of LeBron James.
That all changed in July, when Shaquille O'Neal was traded to the Cavaliers. Shaq was probably the one player I really liked for whom I didn't have a jersey. I didn't start collecting NBA jerseys seriously until 2004, by which point he was the subject of trade talks.
Shaq eventually got traded to the Heat, for whom I already had a jersey (Lamar Odom) and eventually got more jerseys (Dwyane Wade). When he got to Phoenix, I considered finally getting my Shaq jersey -- since I still to this day don't have a Suns jersey -- but it didn't seem like he'd be sticking around long.
With Shaq on the Cavs, I didn't care how long he was sticking around (though I would've been pissed if I just got my jersey and he got traded again this season). Plus, I didn't have an authentic Cavs alternate, so this was a chance to fill that hole in my collection too.
Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.
