Jersey Monday: Jermon Bushrod

I’ve had at least one jersey of every NFL team since Feb. 19, 2003 when I finally got a Texans jersey, so having a jersey of the teams in the Super Bowl isn’t usually a problem. But sometimes I come across a team -- like the Saints -- for which I don’t have a relevant jersey.

Prior to a few hours ago, my only Saints jersey was Ricky Williams, who not only isn’t relevant to this year’s Saints team, but is hated by every Saints fan I know (admittedly a small group). However, I now have a current Saints jersey, of starting left tackle Jermon Bushrod, thanks to a nice one-week turnaround on shipping from

Why Jermon Bushrod and not Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Marques Colston, Jonathan Vilma or any of the other Saints players you’ve actually heard of? Well, Bushrod is a Towson Tiger, and I support my school. I have a Dave Meggett jersey. I might be the only person on the planet to have an authentic Sean Landeta jersey. So at some point I was going to get a Bushrod jersey anyway. This just seemed like the best time. So Sunday, when the Super Bowl kicks off, I’ll be rocking my brand new Saints jersey and shouting “Who Dat” (so long as the NFL lets me).

Jersey Monday will continue every Monday until I run out of jerseys to spotlight. And since I’ve got more than 150 of them, that could be awhile.
