The past few weeks have seen plenty of summer’s biggest movies come out on Blu Ray, and that will continue over the next few weeks. So now seemed like as good a time as any to pick my favorite movies of 2008.
5. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay
Sure, this movie is incredibly stupid, but just like the first one, it’s become a go-to movie when I want to watch something funny. Plus, Neil Patrick Harris is over-the-top hilarious as... Neil Patrick Harris.
It’s hard to believe this movie came out in 2008, considering I remember hearing about it way back in 2006. But it was a mid-January release, and it was very good. Sure, there aren’t many answers, but sometime there don’t need to be answers for a movie to be good.
3. Iron Man
Let me just say there is a HUGE gap between 4 and 3. Really, it’s 1a, b, and c, then 4. Iron Man was AWESOME. It exceeded every expectation I had for it. The cool thing about Iron Man? I know there’s going to be a sequel, which should be awesome, but I’d be set if this was the only movie in the Iron Man series. It was that good.
Pixar movies are usually good, but this one went above and beyond. A movie with a message that’s also enjoyable? Holy crap. I didn’t think that was possible. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s beautiful. Who cares if it’s animated. It should be a Best Picture nominee.
1.The Dark Knight
Best. Movie. Ever. I will not argue this.
