Wednesday Night Ramblings

• OK, so I’m a little behind on the comic reviews -- I’ve had Angel: After the Fall #5 in my hands for a couple weeks and haven’t gotten around to posting my review, and now #6 is already out. I promise, my review of #5 will go up on Thursday, and I’ll try to get to #6 before next Wednesday.

• Wednesday was actually a big day for me, comic-wise. In addition to the new Angel, there were new issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Anita Blake and Buffy. Usually my books are a little more spaced out, but I can’t complain about getting such a bounty in one day.

• Most of my TV shows are still on hiatus (or, in the case of “Lost”, have gone on hiatus since the strike ended), but “How I Met Your Mother” is going on 3 weeks of new episodes now, and they’ve all be fantastic. This week’s episode -- in which Barney unveils his field of 64 women he’s most wronged -- was just an inspired masterpiece. Plus, it even had a Doogie Howser reference at the end. Legen... wait for it... dary!

• I’m still working my way up to the majors in MLB ’08: The Show. At one point, my player got traded to the Cubs (not a fan) and then demoted to AA (even less of a fan). I’m back in Triple-A now, and hopefully I’ll be a September call-up.

• Speaking of video games, I’ve also started re-playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I loved this game when it came out (so much so that I’m pretty sure I finished it in less than a week -- though I finished the sequel even faster; 3 days of near-16-hour marathon sessions). It really hasn’t lost anything for me, even though I know all the plot twists by heart. This is the 5th time I’ve played it through, though the first that I’ve gone pure dark side from the beginning (at no point so far have I done anything to gain light side points, and my character is fully dark and fully corrupted, and I’ve only finished 2 planets so far). Good times.

• PooZ and I are still trying to plan our trip to Philadelphia for Wizard World, but we’re not sure if we’re going to be able to make that happen. What we will be able to make happen is a new episode of the podcast. Look for that coming in the next couple of weeks, if not sooner.
