Three to Get Ready: October 20-22

A look ahead at the three sporting events I’ll be watching this weekend (and yes, because of the NFL season and my standard work schedule, Monday counts as part of the weekend. Friday does not. My life is weird like that.).

October 20
Indians at Red Sox, 8 ET on FOX
Game 6 of the ALCS with Curt Schilling on the mound for the Red Sox. The last time that was the case, it was 2004, and Schilling’s bloody sock became a permanent part of baseball lore. Nothing as weird should happen Saturday, but don’t be surprised if the Sox pull off a win and force a game 7. They hit Fausto Carmona hard in Game 2 (of course, the Indians hit Schilling hard too).

October 21
Kelly Clarkson Concert, 7 ET at Mohegan Sun
This is what I’ll be watching Sunday. Guaranteed. Oh, you want a sporting event? Well, I may try to get some movie watching in on Sunday afternoon, but if I do watch the NFL, here’s the game:

49ers at Giants, 1 ET on FOX
My early afternoon choices here at home are between this game and the Pats-Dolphins game. I hate the Pats, they’re going to destroy the Dolphins, and I have no desire to watch that game. On the other hand, the Giants are an NFC East rival, and their quarterback is starting for my Fantasy team. So I’ll at least have my eye on this one.

October 22
Colts at Jaguars, 8:30 ET on ESPN
Two reasons to watch this game on Monday night:

1.It’s the best game of the week in the NFL.
2.The only other sporting events on Monday are a trio of hockey games.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t watch hockey, but the only national game is Bruins-Canadiens (on Versus, if you get it) and it doesn’t compare to a division game between two teams with a combined 9-1 record. Plus, Peyton Manning has to do something to prove that he, and not Tom Brady, is still the best QB in the NFL. Or he could just film some more commercials.
