I don’t get a lot of days off these days, at least not ones where I can truly do what I want. Today was one of those days, thanks to the fact that I worked Sunday from 5am to 2pm, which meant I was up bright and early Monday morning. I got my condo cleaned up (though the basement is still a mess), got my laundry done, and even got some time to go out and get some stuff.
I went to the comic shop and got some issues I’d been waiting for. I liked the conclusion to “Spike: Asylum” but both it and “Angel: Auld Lang Syne” feel like a single episode of the show drawn out into a 5-part comic. Basically every issue is just an additional scene. On the other hand, there’s a ton of stuff packed into “Spider-Man: Reign” which has been an interesting story thus far. I also picked up “Anita Blake” #4, but I haven’t read it yet because I’m still waiting for #3 (which should be arriving tomorrow after a minor delay in shipping).
When I was at the shop, Scott and I and another one of the customers (whose name escapes me right now) got into a long discussion about “Buffy: Season 8”, the comic that’s due out next month. I’m not going to bore you all with the details of the discussion, but it was nice to even have a “Buffy”-related discussion with live people, something I really haven’t been able to do since Wizard World last summer.
Speaking of that, Moore and I are planning on going to New York Comic Con in about 2 weeks. Saturday morning, there’s going to be a panel discussion for “Buffy” with Nicholas Brendan, Juliet Landeau and Bianca Lawson, which should be fun. Plus, they’re all going to be signing in the afternoon. I’ll probably have Nick sign my pre-production Xander figure. Not sure what I’ll get signed from Juliet and Bianca (or any of the other Buffy guests that will be there).
That’s about it for now. I should also mention that I’ve started working out again, and my knees are freakin’ killing me. Also the photo above is of Anyanka’s Amulet, which was finally released after tons of delays (my records show that I pre-ordered it in October of 2005). It’s here now and it’s very nice.
